Inspired: The Art of Hearts

{wedding candy}

As everyone knows, with Feburary comes groundhogs, leap years, Oscar night, and...oh yeah, Valentine's Day.  Regardless of your opinion on pricey gifts, grand gestures of undying devotion, and conversation hearts that read like texts sent by your twelve-year-old self, it can still be nice to bring a little holy day to this holiday.  While I'm a personal fan of pairing bright pink with red (check out the classy shift dress below), I also love the idea of subtlety for a February wedding-  a perfectly festive celebration with neither a candy coma nor a trace of commercial fluffiness is totally possible.  Instead, why not take an opportunity to consider the deep closeness between the hearts of Jesus and Mary and to add tiny romantic details to your day, like delicate rosy jewelry, heart-shaped stationary motifs made with your own fingerprints, or a gown with a gorgeous, ruffled sweetheart neckline?  If you dig bright shades like a ruby-colored red, try grounding them with quieter, neutral shades of pink and cream for a sophisticated palette.  Find your inspiration here (click to enlarge):
